CHADRON, Neb. -
Jasmine Cervantes buried a two-foot shot with one second remaining as Metro State stunned Chadron State 75-74 on the road on Saturday afternoon.  The Roadrunners improved to 12-9 overall and 7-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while the Eagles fell to 6-15 overall and 6-7 in the RMAC.

Cervantes inbounded the ball from the right sideline to Kristin Valencia and then set up on the low block on the right side and received the pass and buried the two-foot shot from the block.  Alyssa Benson ensuing stole the inbounds pass to secure the tough road win for the Roadrunners.

Metro State trailed by three at the half at 36-33.  With the score tied 44-44 with 15 minutes left in the game, The Roadrunners started a 16-2 run with a jumper by Valencia that put them ahead 60-46 with under 10 minutes to play.

But the Eagles chipped away over the final nine minutes and took the lead on a pair of free throws by Kaitlin Petri with 14 seconds left.  Following a timeout with nine seconds, Metro State set up Cervantes' game-winning shot.

The Cervantes and Chelsea Williamson led the Roadrunners in scoring with 15 points each.  Cervantes had 7-of-13 from the floor and had five rebounds, four assists and two steals.  Williamson made 6-of-12 from the floor and had four rebounds.

Valencia pulled down 15 rebounds and had 10 points, four assists and four steals.  Her 15 rebounds were the most since Megan Sinclair had 16 on March 3, 2009.  Emily Wood and Candice Kohn each had seven points on Saturday, while Alyssa Benson, Leandra Sands and Brandi Valencia each had six.

Petri led all scorers with 30 points on 12-of-16 shooting and added eight rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Metro State shot 55.2 percent in the second half on the way to 47.0 percent in the game, but made just 8-of-16 at the line.  CSC hit 19-of-25 at the line to make its comeback.

Game Notes: Metro State is now 6-0 when scoring 70+ points and 6-3 this season when shooting 40% or better ... Cervantes has scored 10+ points in nine of the past 10 games ... Sands played her first game since suffering an injury on Jan. 9 against Western New Mexico ... Jalyssa Caesar played her first game since Dec. 5 against Adams State.
