DENVER, Colo. - Metro State’s athletic department announced the graduation of 30 current and former student-athletes and the graduation of one assistant coach on Tuesday. Nine of the 30 finished their degrees during the 2009 fall semester, while the remaining 22 graduated during this past Sunday’s ceremony on the Metro State campus.

DENVER, Colo. - Metro State volleyball coach Debbie Hendricks announced the addition of three players for the 2010 season on Monday. Alex Green (Peoria, Ariz.), Sarah McGaffin (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Nikky Sapp (Avrada, Colo.) join Kayla Collier-Vigil in the 2010 recruiting class. Collier-Vigil signed during the early signing period in November.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Metro State assistant volleyball coach Lisa Axel was recently selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Thirty Under 30.  The award was created by the AVCA to honor thirty of the top up-and-coming volleyball coaches under 30 years old.  The list of winners was announced in the February/March edition of Coaching Volleyball magazine.

DENVER, Colo. - Metro State volleyball head coach Debbie Hendricks and middle blocker Anna Mapes will both be honored at the Sportswomen of Colorado banquet on March 7, announced on Monday by executive director Joan Birkland. The Sportswomen of Colorado honors female athletes, celebrates their achievements and recognizes those whose efforts have advanced girls' and women's individual and team sports endeavors. The March 7 ceremony will be the 36th Annual Sportswomen of Colorado Awards Banquet.

DENVER, Colo. - Metro State athletic director Joan McDermott announced the College’s 2010 Hall of Fame class on Tuesday. Five individuals and one team will make up the ninth Hall of Fame class in Roadrunner athletics history and the first since 2007. The 1989-90 men’s basketball team, former men’s basketball player Lee Barlow, former volleyball player Devon Herron, former women’s soccer player Amy Leichliter (pronounced “leck-lighter”), former women’s soccer coach Ed Montojo (pronounced “mon-ta-joe”) and former assistant athletic director Joel R. (J.R.) Smith will all be inducted on Saturday, Feb. 20.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Metro State finished the fall sports season tied for seventh in the Learfield Sports NCAA Division II Director's Cup standings, released on Dec. 23 by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.  The final standings include football.  The fall football season had not been completed in the previous standings released on Dec. 10.

Roadrunner Recap:
Metro State’s postseason run came to an end on Nov. 21 with a loss to top-ranked and eventual 3-peat national champion Concordia-St. Paul. The Roadrunners fell to the Golden Bears in the Central Region championship, just the second time in school history they have reached the regional championship match. Metro State’s two wins against No. 13 Southwest Minnesota State and No. 15 Minnesota Duluth were the most postseason wins in school history.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Metro State is currently ranked fourth nationally following the fall season in the NCAA Division II Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings released on Thursday.  The Roadrunners are tied with Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Colorado Mines with 208.00 points.  Grand Valley State is ranked first with 290.00 points, followed by West Texas A&M and Massachusetts-Lowell.  Some schools will have the opportunity to win additional points as the football season has not been completed.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Metro State volleyball player Bri Morley became the first student-athlete in school history to be named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Athlete of the Month on Tuesday as she earned the women's award for the month of November.  Adams State's Reuben Mwei won the men's award.
